Demand for Jewelry Keeps Growing at Japan's Department Stores

June 18, 12 by IDEX Online Staff Reporter

(IDEX Online News) – Sales of jewelry and other luxury items at department stores in Japan remain strong, up 3.4 percent year-over-year in May despite stormy weather.

Department store sales fell 1.0 percent in May, according to the Japan Department Stores Association.

The increase in luxury sales is partially attributed to the growing number of tourists, mainly from China and Taiwan.
