Diamond and Jewelry manufacturer Dalumi has decided to adopt a village in southern Botswana, near the capital city of Gaborone, through a continuing donation to SOS Children’s Village.
The Tlokweng village includes 16 family houses, one of which houses 12 children. Through this charitable endeavor, Dalumi will fund the yearly purchases of food, clothes, medications and school materials for these 12 children.
“Being part of this project enables Dalumi to be really close to the local population, supporting their needs and continuing the ethical and responsible way in which we conduct our business,” said Yuval Kemp, director of Marketing and Business Development at Dalumi.
The company plans to evaluate their work with the village after one year and discuss ways in which their participation can be improved.
“We aim to develop our children into responsible and independent adults who will have the inner strength to cope with the challenges of the future. At present
the SOS Children's Village Tlokweng, near Gaborone, cares for 245 children and youth. We are very grateful to Dalumi for its commitment: helping children means feeding the roots of social development,” commented Derek James, national director of SOS Botswana.
Dalumi was selected in November as one of DTC Botswana’s 16 Sightholders. The company recently opened a diamond polishing facility in capital city Gaborone.
