Angola is stepping up efforts to block hundreds of diamond smugglers entering the country from neighboring Democratic Republic of Congo, Reuters quoted a top Angolan general as saying.

According to the general, Angola has recently invested $13 million to increase military patrols along its border with the DRC.

Angola, like many African countries, is battling to keep its mineral resources from being taken out of the country in order to enjoy the revenues they provide.
