ALROSA Releases 2014 Social and Environmental Report
August 27, 15(IDEX Online News) – Russian mining company ALROSA has released its Social and Environmental Report for 2014. The report, prepared in accordance with the "core" level of the new GRI G4 Sustainability Reporting Guidelines, details ALROSA’s contribution to three areas of sustainable development: economy, environment and social systems.
The company said it encourages stable social and environmental development across its footprint and invests heavily in social infrastructure maintenance and offering financial support to childcare, educational and research, cultural and sporting institutions.
In 2014, ALROSA's social contributions exceeded RUB 5.7 billion ($84.6 million), with more than RUB 3.2 billion ($47.4 million) invested in social programs for its personnel.
Projects include corporate social programs, including health care for employees and their families, home purchase support, cultural and sports events.
ALROSA said its total environmental spend amounted to about RUB 6 billion ($89 million) in 2014.
