Israel and China in Diamond Cooperation Agreement
July 04, 04
Israel and China have agreed on measures for cooperation in the field of diamonds, the Israeli Ministry of Industry, Trade and Labor said today (Sunday).
The ministry did not provide details of the agreement.
China is becoming an increasingly important market for the Israeli diamond industry, both for sales of polished goods and in setting up polishing plants for rough diamonds.
The cooperation agreement was signed during a weeklong visit by a 200-strong delegation of Israeli businessmen led by Industry, Trade and Labor Minister Ehud Olmert.
The visit aimed to strengthen ties between the countries in an attempt to boost trade levels while opening doors for Israeli firms in the Chinese market as the country prepares to host the 2008 Olympics.
