Russia Has Strong Jewelry Sales Potential, Says CIBJO's Cavalieri

Russia is a market with great potential for jewelry sales, according to Gaetano Cavalieri, the President of CIBJO, the World Jewellery Confederation who attended JUNWEX, the 13th International Jewellery Exhibition, held from February 2 to 6 in St Petersburg.

As average income continues to rise, demand for luxury goods, including jewelry, can also be expected to increase, he said.

Cavalieri said Russia's jewelry design and manufacturing capabilities were not well known outside the country and the industry had not yet made the necessary efforts to promote jewelry exports.

In addition, the Russian government has not removed the barriers which are holding back its export efforts.

Cavalieri said that “after viewing this impressive show, I have no doubt that the revival of Russia’s rich jewelry tradition has only just begun. I am sure that this country’s jewelry designed and crafted in this huge country will not only be bought and enjoyed by its own people but also beyond Russia’s borders”.
