Israeli Polished Exports at $424 Million in April

Polished diamond exports from Israel dropped 21 percent to $424 million April. The drop in exports reflects the Basel show shifting from April last year to March this year.

Net polished diamond exports for January to April, however, total $2.278 billion, up 6 percent from $2.144 during the same period in 2004, and more accurately reflect the center’s exports trends.

Polished diamond imports during the month totaled $282 million, up 25 percent.

Of Israel's exports, 62 percent were shipped to the U.S., the world’s largest diamond consumer market. A further 15 percent of the goods were shipped to Hong Kong, nine percent to Belgium, and five percent to Switzerland.
