FTC Extends Date for Public Comment on Platinum Amendment

The U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) will hear public comments on whether the platinum section of the ‘FTC Guides for the Jewelry, Precious Metals and Pewter Industries’ should be amended has extended until October 12.
Until this date the public can voice its opinion on how to mark or describe, non-deceptively, products containing between 500 and 850 parts per thousand pure platinum and no other platinum group metals.
The Jewelers Vigilance Committee (JVC) will file comments on behalf of themselves, AGS, MJSA and JA. JVC will incorporate the results of the research and survey work they have conducted as well as other research and survey work done in conjunction with the Platinum Task Force, co-chaired by JVC, JA and MJSA.
To respond to the FTC solicitation for comments on platinum write to: Federal Trade Commission/Office of the Secretary, Room 135-H (Annex Y), 600 Pennsylvania Ave., N.W. Washington, D.C. 20580. Include a reference to: "Jewelry Guides, Matter No. G711001" and send two copies.
