June 18, 06
The Natural Color Diamond Association (NCDIA) announced new officers and a new board of directors at an NCDIA press event and reception at the recent JCK Las Vegas show.
Leading the trade association in its new not-for-profit structure are: President, Jordan Fine of Amgad; Executive Vice President, Jean-Marc Lieberherr of Rio Tinto Diamonds; Secretary/Treasurer, Joseph Khafi of Diatraco.
In addition to officers, other members of the board are: Andreas Kreiger (Hans D. Krieger), Richard Werdiger (Michael Werdiger, Inc.), Tom Hart (Bailey, Banks, Biddle), Dilip Mehta (Rosy Blue), Alan Friedman (Alan Friedman, Inc.), Toshiaki Yanagisawa (Kashikey), Robert Bogel (Bogel Diamods), Alan Bronstein (Aurora Gem) and Dr. Martin Leake (BHP Billiton).
Sam Merksamer, executive director of NCDIA said, “It is a pleasure to work with such an enthused and dedicated board who are all experts in the field of Natural Color Diamonds.”
The NCDIA also presented their members and guests with a preview of the new www.ncdia.com website. The site is currently in the development and testing stage and is due to be launched this summer.
The new website will allow consumers to learn about natural color diamonds based on color, find tips on how to purchase with the help of the buyer’s guide, view NCDIA members’ jewelry in a design gallery searchable by color, category and company, and then locate NCDIA retailers to make a purchase.
According to the organization, the website reflects research that indicates consumers are very interested in the natural color diamond category, but the lack of information is a significant barrier to purchase.
