Alrosa Larger Rough Diamonds Auction Fetches $23 Million

Alrosa’s 17th International auction of +10.8 carat rough diamonds concluded Friday, auctioning 126 boxes of rough have been sold for a total of about $23 million.

Together with the Russian Diamond Chamber, Alrosa offered 131 boxes with 893 rough diamonds with a total weight of over 16 thousand carats. Among the stones were 29 exceptionally large rough diamonds, weighing over 50 carats each. The largest of them weighed 283.94 carats.

56 Russian and foreign companies from Israel, Belgium, India, China, Japan, and U.S. participated as bidders in the auction.

The next auction opened yesterday (Monday). Results will be announced October 20.
