DB LV to Open in India

De Beers LV plans to open a store in India, Jonathan Oppenheimer revealed during an interview at World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland. Other plans for India include product placement in Bollywood movies and expansion of the Nakshatra brand.

In an interview with the Indo-Asian News Service (IANS), Oppenheimer said that De Beers will expand the Nakshatra line of diamond jewelry and that Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai has been signed up as the brand ambassador.

According to Oppenheimer, the Indian retail market is of growing interest for the company. As part of its efforts to increase diamond jewelry purchases, it is seeking product placements in Bollywood movies. “India is an important market for us and we will continue to expand in that market,” he said.

De Beers LV is a high-end diamond jewelry retailer. The 50:50 venture with luxury firm Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton already has stores in London and New York with another planed to open in Las Vegas later this year.
