Against the backdrop of tough rough diamond market, Alrosa sold $2.865 billion worth of rough diamonds in 2006, beat its sales goal by 1.23 percent. Fifty five percent of the goods were exported, the diamond miner said.
During a board meeting last week, the company also noted that January sales were good. Despite that, the company decided to adjust prices for selected rough diamond categories, in accordance with market demand.
Combined rough and polished diamonds sales in 2006 were reportedly $3 billion, making for $135 million in polished diamond sales.
