U.S. Polished Imports Flat in September

The U.S. imported $1.393 billion in polished diamonds in September, weighing 1,428,133 carats. In value, imports grew only 0.85 percent from last year, and they declined 13.33 percent in volume. The average value of imports rose 16.36 percent to $975.07 per carat (p/c). To date, polished imports have risen 6.5 percent to $13.18 billion, and declined in volume 13.33 percent to 11,532,490 carats, resulting in a 22.88 percent rise in the average value of imports – $1,142.82 p/c. Israel supplied the U.S. with $628.1 million worth of goods, 45.11 of total imports in September. India was source of $365.47 million, 26.24 percent of imports. The U.S. exported $480.88 million worth of goods weighing 1,165,789 carats. Most of these exports were to Subtracting these exports from the month’s imports results in a net of 262,344 carats worth $911.65 million with a high average value of $3,475.02 p/c.
