U.S. Polished Imports Leaped 26% in October

Gross imports of polished diamonds to the U.S. rose 26.06 percent to $1.925 billion, no doubt in anticipation of a good holiday season. In volume imports rose by 8.74 percent to 1,817,088 carats, with the average value rising to $1,059.47 per carat.

 

The net value of October’s imports reached $1.462 billion on a net of 557,142 carats, a high $2,623.67 per carat average. The U.S. exported goods worth $463.4 million, shipping 1,259,946 carats abroad.

 

Imports from Israel were $955.63 million, India $491 million, and imports from Belgium totaled $284.87 million.
