ImaGem Releases New Light Behavior Maximization Technology

ImaGem, a gem technology and information company, has introduced a service for diamond manufacturers and trade members that provides specific guidelines to optimize light behavior when cutting rough or re-cutting already manufactured diamonds.

The Soni Diamond Institute of Surat will be the first manufacturer to use this service in a commercial setting, ImaGem said in a release.

“The new service offers invaluable information that is vital to cut beautiful diamonds. While cutting diamonds the emphasis is often entirely on maximizing weight. With ImaGem’s new Diamond Essence service, we can cut diamonds that give the best yield in weight as well as high light behavior grades,“ said Shreyan Soni of Soni Diamond Institute.

Diamond Essence is based on ImaGem’s patented direct measurement of light behavior technology and is used with existing rough planning programs. Once a stone has been cut or re-cut, a manufacturer receives a light behavior grading report at a discounted price.

Initially, the service will be available through ImaGem’s Gem Grading Center in Surat and at Precision Gem Grading Lab in Philadelphia in August. It will later be made available on the Internet to manufacturers and the trade through subscription.
