ImaGem Introduces $21 Diamond-Grading Certificate

March 12, 09 by Courtesy National Jeweler Network

ImaGem Inc. has introduced a $21 diamond-grading certificate for stones up to 1.01 carats, according to a release from the company.

The certificate includes the Four C's, fluorescence, proportion analysis, cut grade, polish and symmetry analysis, a proportion diagram and an actual image of the diamond table and girdle, the release states.

Proportions are derived using the patented Direct Measurement technology of table, shape and the profile of a diamond.

"Change is inevitable," ImaGem Chairman Dr. Lalit Aggarwal said in the release. "For the first time in the history of the United States, we have an African-American president. This was considered impossible in the not-too-distant past. The diamond industry has changed as well, as people have seen the value and merit in newer technology."

This includes ImaGem's Direct Measurement technology, which, Aggarwal said, has been accepted by a number of key industry players in both the United States and India, including a major U.S. lab, a large diamond engagement ring retailer and a retailer with more than 400 stores.

"These are smart businessmen," Aggarwal said. "I do not think they would adopt and continue to use the technology if it did not have merit."

In the event a re-grading is requested, Philadelphia-based ImaGem will review the disputed stone and may reprocess it at no extra charge.
