(IDEX Online) - Kim Kardashian yesterday (13 May) told a court in France she feared she'd be raped and killed by a gang that stole over $10m of jewelry, including an an18.88-carat diamond engagement ring from her then-husband rapper Kanye West.
The billionaire TV reality star, entrepreneur and socialite, aged 44, was giving evidence at the trial of nine men and one woman accused of armed robbery and kidnap at the apartment where she was staying for Paris Fashion Week in October 2016.
Kardashian arrived at court wearing a diamond necklace by Samer Halimeh New York, with a 10.13-carat pear-shaped center stone, a total carat weight of 52.17 carats, and a price tag, reported to be over $3m.
She also wore a diamond ring valued at over $4m - bought with the insurance payout for the stolen engagement ring.
During her testimony she said she had forgiven one of her alleged attackers, Aomar Ait Khedache, wrote to her from prison after his arrest
Kardashian (pictured) recounted her traumatic experience in a 2017 episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, detailing how she managed to free herself from plastic ties and scream for help from a balcony.
In court she re-lived the moment when the raiders, disguised as police officers, grabbed her from her bed and demanded she hand over the engagement ring, valued at $4m, from her finger. It has never been recovered.
At the time of the raid Kardashian routinely posted details of her daily activities, which may have helped the perpetrators. She has since changed her security arrangements.
The trial continues.
