Signet Tops Superseller List, Followed by Walmart

(IDEX Online) - Signet remained the biggest-grossing jeweler in North America by far in 2024, according to National Jeweler magazine's annual State of the Majors report on $100m supersellers (published on 13 May ahead of JCK).
The number of jewelry and watch retailers selling more than $100m remained unchanged during 2024 at 36. The order of the seven top-ranking businesses also remained unchanged - Signet, Walmart, Amazon, Richemont, LVMH, Costco and Macy's.
Pandora nudged its way back to eighth place, as Nonantum Capital Partners, the private equity firm that bought Ross-Simons, slipped to ninth. Bucherer remained in 10th place.
Signet, which includes Kay Jewelers, Zales, Jared andBanter by Piercing Pagoda, saw sales slip from $6.7bn in 2023 to $6.3bn, according to figures obtained by National Jeweler. Watch and jewelry sales at second-placed Walmart were down slightly from $3.58bn to $3.52bn.
Macy's, the department store hit by declining sales, store closures and accounting scandals, saw watch and jewelry sales slip by almost 13 per cent, down from $1.48bn to $1.29bn. The rest of the top 10 all reported increased sales.
Signet remains the largest jewelry chain by store count, at 2,379, followed by Pandora (556), LVMH (286), Swarovski (240) and Swatch (187).
