Swarovski's Proprietary Octagon Cut for Lab Growns
June 15, 25
(IDEX Online) - Swarovski has launched a collection of lab grown diamond jewelry featuring its own patented octagon-shaped cut.
The Octagon Collection of pendants, earrings, bracelets and rings, is priced from around $1,000 to over $5,000.
Swarovski, the private, family-owned Austrian company with over 2,300 outlets globally, says it evaluated 1,000 different cut variations.
It settled on the Octagon cut for "the best possible light-return" - more brilliant than a standard emerald or baguette cut, it said.
The proprietary cut - the first by Swarovski - has 57 facets: 32 on the pavilion, 24 on the crown, and one on the table, including a step cut on the crown and a princess cut on the pavilion.
The cut is described as "a smoother, more elongated take on the traditional octagon".
Swarovski, which says its "created diamonds" sales doubled last year, is focusing on more expensive, higher-margin jewelry.
