(IDEX Online) - Pritesh Patel has been named as the new president and CEO of GIA (Gemological Institute of America).
He will take over on 4 August from Susan Jacques, who announced her departure in January, and who has been at the helm since 2014.
"It is the honor of a lifetime to lead an institution as trusted and iconic as GIA," said Patel, who joined the organization in 2015 as chief information officer and who currently serves as COO.
"I'm inspired by GIA's legacy of excellence and integrity, and I'm committed to building on that foundation with humility, purpose and a bold vision for the future."
Before joining GIA, Patel worked at CIRCOR International Inc., a global manufacturer of highly engineered products in energy, aerospace, industrial, defense and power generation.
GIA, a non-profit founded in 1931, operates in 13+countries, with 11 campuses, nine labs and four research centers.
Jacques said: "I've been associated with GIA for most of my adult life, first as a student, then as a Governor and as CEO for the last 12 years.
"I have always been a passionate advocate for GIA, its important mission of trust and its unique role as an industry leader in the global gem and jewelry industry.
"I am delighted that the board of governors has selected Pritesh as my successor and the next leader of this amazing organization."
She will serve as a strategic advisor through the end of 2025, supporting Patel's transition.
