December 15, 25
(IDEX Online) - The man accused of swallowing a $19,000 Faberge egg pendant has entered a not guilty plea at a court in New Zealand.
He was accused of theft and additional charges when he appeared earlier today (15 December) at Auckland District Court.
The 32-year-old man, who is not being named, is alleged to have swallowed the diamond-encrusted jewelry item at Partridge Jewellers in Auckland on 28 November.
He was arrested immediately and police waited six days to recover the egg, after nature took its course.
The man entered pleas through his lawyer and remains in custody. His next court date is set for February 2026. No additional details on arguments or evidence presented emerged from the hearing.
The pendant is a limited-edition Faberge James Bond Octopussy Egg locket made of 18-carat yellow gold, set with 60 white diamonds and 15 blue sapphires, featuring a miniature gold octopus inside.
Partridge Jewellers plans to return the recovered egg to Faberge.
