Phillips Auctions a Record $290m Watches in 2025
January 08, 26
(IDEX Online) - Phillips achieved its highest ever total from watches sold at auction in 2025.
It raised over $290m, securing its position as top auction house in the sector, ahead of Sotheby's and Christie's.
New York-based Phillips has partnered for the last 10 years with watch consultants Bacs & Russo (Aurel Bacs and Livia Russo) and has, for each of the last five years, consistently sold over $200m of watches.
Its top seller in 2025 was a Patek Philippe Perpetual Calendar Chronograph Ref. 1518 (1943) which sold for CHF 14,190,000 (USD 17,631,075) in November in Geneva.
The second highest price was achieved by Francis Ford Coppola's unique F.P. Journe's FFC Prototype, with an articulated titanium hand pointing to hours. It sold in December, in New York, for $10,775,000.
Phillips said its total watch sales - the USD 290m from auctions plus private sales and revenue from Phillips Perpetual, its online platform - came to $370m, its highest ever.
It offered 1,802 lots across six live auctions and seven online sales, of which 36 achieved over $1m and only 11 lots were unsold.
