India's GJEPC to Join Natural Diamond Council

February 10, 26 by John Jeffay

(IDEX Online) - India's Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) is to join the Natural Diamond Council (NDC).

It is due to become an NDC member by 1 May, once agreement has been reached over the details of its financial contribution.

GJEPC, representing around 7,000 exporters, signed up to the Luanda Accord last June, alongside diamond producers Angola, Botswana, South Africa, Namibia, and DRC.

They jointly pledged to donate 1 per cent of rough revenue to fund a global NDC campaign to market natural diamonds.

GJEPC and the NDC announced on Monday (9 February) that they signed a memorandum of understanding during the African Mining Indaba 2026, being held in Cape Town, South Africa.

Shaunak Parikh, GJEPC's vice chairman, said: "Joining forces with the Natural Diamond Council reflects our belief that the future of natural diamonds depends on collaboration, transparency and a shared commitment to building long-term consumer confidence."

Amber Pepper, NDC's new CEO said: "GJEPC have long been a valued partner of the Natural Diamond Council.

"Their move toward membership deepens that partnership and strengthens our ability to reach the next generation of consumers with clear, compelling information about what makes natural diamonds rare, authentic and meaningful."

At the same event DMCC (Dubai Multi Commodities Centre) also signed a letter of intent for NDC membership by 1 May and Namibia formally joined the Luanda Accord.
