24-ct Bulgari Pink Diamond could Fetch $18m

(IDEX Online) - Christie's will offer a 24.00-carat pink diamond ring by Bulgari at auction in Geneva next month, with an estimate of up to $18 million.
The Type IIa stone, known as The Bulgari Pink, has remained in the same European noble family for more than 70 years and has never previously appeared at auction.
The Fancy Intense Pink emerald-cut diamond will headline Christie's Magnificent Jewels sale on November 10, with an estimate of CHF10 million to CHF15 million ($12 million to $18 million).
The rough diamond was acquired in India in the 1950s by the current owner's great-grandfather, according to a family account cited by Christie's.
It was later entrusted to Bulgari, the Rome-based jeweler, which set the stone in the ring now that is now being offered for sale.
Christie's says the stone has remained in private hands throughout more than seven decades of family ownership. The auction will provide the first opportunity for the market to establish a public sale price for the jewel.
The ring's history also reflects Bulgari's rise as a jeweler to wealthy international clients during the postwar years. The 1950s saw Rome become a center of glamour, attracting Hollywood stars and other prominent figures, while Bulgari's boutique on Via Condotti became a meeting place for international society.
Recent auction results provide a benchmark for the estimate. In June 2025, Christie's sold The Marie-Therese Pink, a 10.38-carat fancy purple-pink diamond mounted by jeweler JAR, for $13.98 million, setting a world auction record for a JAR jewel and a fancy purple-pink diamond.
In June 2024, The Eden Rose, a 10.20-carat Fancy Intense Pink internally flawless diamond, sold at Christie's for $13.29 million.
In November 2023, Christie's Hong Kong sold The Pink Supreme, a 15.48-carat Fancy Intense Pink internally flawless Type IIa diamond, for $10.81 million. It was described as the largest Fancy Intense Pink internally flawless diamond ever offered at auction.
The record for a pink diamond sold at auction belongs to the 59.60-carat CTF Pink Star, graded Fancy Vivid Pink, which sold at Sotheby's Hong Kong in April 2017 for $71.2 million.
The Christie's auction will take place at the Four Seasons Hotel des Bergues in Geneva, with the ring on public view from November 5 to 10.
