Jewelry Store Stormed by 20 Raiders
May 26, 25
(IDEX Online) - A crowd of 20 hammer-wielding suspects stormed a jewelry store after using a stolen car to ram through the front doors.
The raid, at Sai Jewelers, in Modesto, California, USA, took place in broad daylight - at 6pm on Sunday 18 May - and lasted under 90 seconds.
The suspects were all masked, wearing hoodies and gloves. Four men, aged 19 to 24, have since been arrested. Detectives are still trying to identify the other men caught on camera. They escaped in five cars.
Surveillance footage shows a red Mitsubishi being driven into the front of building. It also captures the moment one of the suspects slips on shattered glass as he runs into the building.
The raid has been described as a "major loss" for the business, but details of what was stolen, and its value, have not so far been released.
Investigators are linking the crew to similar robberies elsewhere in California - Oakland, Alameda County, and Beverly Hills.
