Just Pay for the Gold, the Lab Grown is Free

(IDEX Online) - A Bangkok-based manufacturer is giving away lab grown diamonds - and charging only for the gold in its jewelry.
It's another sign of the rapid fall in lab grown prices.
Universal Chains caused a stir at the Jewellery & Gem World (JGW) show in Hong Kong last week with a poster for its Gen Z Diamonds that read: "We only charge for the gold, the lab diamonds are free."
Gen Z Diamonds is a wholesale-only brand, specializing in lab-grown diamonds and recycled gold jewelry.
Its new marketing campaign comes as lab grown prices keep on dropping, and as gold hits record highs.
But it's not the first lab grown giveaway. In August 2023, Steven Singer Jewelers, based in Philadelphia, USA, said it was giving away 600 one-carat lab growns with any purchase from its range of mined diamond engagement rings.
The jewelry retailer said it was giving them away because it would never sell stones that "will be worthless one day".
