JIC Creates Online Survey Panel

In a bid to better understand regional markets, how jewelry and watch trends translate to sales, and how the selling power of trends varies by region, Jewelry Information Center (JIC) has created an online survey panel of members. The survey panel, which currently includes more than 350 jeweler participants from across the U.S, asks jewelers to answer key questions about fashion, product, and marketing trends affecting their businesses.
“JIC will use the information gathered from this ongoing survey to better serve the industry, turning those trends into tools that retailers, designers, and manufacturers can use to better their businesses,” says Myriam Gumuchian, chairperson of the JIC board of directors.
While the first survey has already been conducted, the regular surveys will begin in September. “It is not too late to be part of the influential panel,” Gumuchian says. Being part of the panel will ensure a first sneak peek at the survey results and conclusions that can provide helpful insights to buying and selling. “Knowledge is power,” Gumuchian adds. “The more we know about our industry the more we can all grow.”
The online member panel survey is part of a larger initiative by JIC. Nearly a year ago, the organization began to work on a consumer outreach project that was designed to explore the best ways to reach out to non-traditional jewelry consumers. The results from the first survey helped to shape JIC’s report, “The Changing American Jewelry Buyer: Preparing Your Organization to Market to the Shifting Demographic.” The report addresses how changes in media, technology, advertising, sales techniques, and the economy all affect sales of fine jewelry and watches.
