(IDEX Online) - Eight gang members have been convicted and sentenced for their roles in a 2016 armed robbery, in which TV reality star Kim Kardashian was forced to hand over $10m of jewelry.
But none of the seven men and one woman will serve any further prison time. The longest sentence handed down by a court in Paris was eight years, for the ringleader Aomar Ait Khedache, aged 69,but nine years have already elapsed since the attack.
Some of those involved received suspended sentences and two were acquitted.
Kardashian, 44, attending Paris Fashion Week, was dragged her from her bed by raiders wearing police uniforms who restrained her with zip ties and duct tape.
They forced to hand over jewelry including an18.88-carat diamond engagement ring from her then-husband rapper Kanye West.
Kardashian gave evidence for the prosecution and said she feared she'd be raped or killed.
Most of the perpetrators were in their 60s or 70s, and dubbed the "grandpa robbers" by the French media.
The lenient sentences were because of their advanced ages, and the time taken to bring the case to court.
None of the stolen jewelry has been recovered except for a diamond-encrusted cross that was dropped by the robbers as they fled.
