DMCC Releases KP Specifications
November 20, 03
The Kimberley Process Evaluator at the Dubai Metals and Commodities Center released guidelines for bringing into the country hand carried rough diamond shipments.
The procedure is as follows:
All hand carried rough diamond shipments along with the Original KP Certificate are to be submitted at the Customs Authorities at the Airport. Upon doing so, the passenger (carrying the rough diamond shipment) will be given the Passenger's Copy of a 'Passenger Baggage Receipt' as proof of submission. The Customs Copy of this receipt will be attached to the shipment itself.
The Passenger will then have to contact UAE KP authorities or the Customs Authorities at the Cargo Village/Terminal, which is where the shipment will be transferred, the next day.
Documents to be submitted to the UAE authorities to claim the rough diamond shipment are:
a) Copy of the passenger's passport
b) Copy of the passenger's ticket and boarding pass
c) Copy of the KP Certificate
d) Copy of the Invoice
e) Original Passenger Baggage Receipt
All Originals of the above documents will have to be carried for verification.
The rough diamond shipment will then be inspected and verified by UAE KP Authorities. Only then will the shipment be endorsed and imported into the country.
