The quake, with its epicenter in the Dead Sea area, struck at about 10:15 am local time and was felt throughout Israel, Lebanon and many parts of Jordan.

The quake is estimated to have measured 4.5 on the Richter scale and lasted around 25 seconds. No after shocks have so far been recorded.

The Diamond Tower, one of the four buildings making up the IDE, was evacuated and people were allowed to return to their offices after 20 minutes.
