CIBJO Publishes Glossary to Clear Up Treatment Confusion

Stating that even industry pros can be confused by the barrage of treatments and new diamond simulates, the World Jewellery Confederation (CIBJO) has published a glossary of gem treatment terms and stone definitions.

Edited by Harry Levy, President of CIBJO’s Diamond Commission, treatments such as staining, heating and irradiation are defined, along with definitions of Natural Stones.

Realizing that some terms are still controversial, none the less, Levy does not shy away from encouraging readers to suggest additions to the list, to ask questions and comment on points on which they do not agree.

The report also has a list of industry organizations and their roles as well as a section on certificates and grading reports.
