London Jewelry Stores Robberies Levels Out Last Year

March 06, 05 by Albert Robinson

The number of robberies at jewelry shops in London last year was unchanged on 2003, according to the latest report from the Metropolitan Police’s Flying Squad unit.

There were just 23 robberies in both years compared with 37 in 2002 and 42 the year before, the Metropolitan Police said in a crime report update.

The highest number of robberies at London jewelry stores in recent years was in 1991 when the capital was hit with 89 attacks.

The Flying Squad’s Crime Prevention Unit publishes a Personal Safety and Security booklet for jewelry retailers which offers advice on action before, during and after a robbery.
