Backes & Strauss Acquires Hong Kong Representative Company

Backes & Strauss has acquired its Hong Kong representative office, Newmont Hong Kong. The company will be renamed Backes & Strauss Hong Kong.
Newmont Hong Kong has been Backes & Strauss representative office in Hong Kong for several years.
Backes & Strauss Managing Director, Christopher Bull, will hold the position of Managing Director of Backes & Strauss Hong Kong while remaining in Antwerp. Kah Tian Ng who has headed the Newmont office during the past few years will become a Director of the new Backes & Strauss HK company.
Backes & Strauss says it has targeted the Far East and views the Hong Kong operation as a hub for distribution into the Asia-Pacific market. “In the face of challenging market conditions, Backes & Strauss continues to maximize opportunities for growth,” the company said in a press release.
Backes & Strauss is the world’s oldest diamond company, established in 1789. Its Head Office is in Antwerp and has distribution offices in Birmingham, Dubai, Hong Kong, London and Toronto.
