Hong Kong Jewellery & Watch Show Opens
September 21, 05
Asia’s biggest jewelry and watch show, the Hong Kong Jewellery & Watch Fair, opened today (Wednesday) with exhibitors expressing optimism and hope to see business turn around after a disappointing show in Shenzhen.
Following the opening ceremony, the 1950 plus exhibitors from 45 countries opened their booths with expressed hope for brisk business and good sales. Manufacturers, retailers, wholesalers and even private collectors milled around, enjoying the attention.
Hall 1, hosting mostly companies with local offices, saw the best of the early traffic and exhibitors there have reported good initial business. Some of the Israeli and Belgium companies, located in the upper floors of the exhibition center, saw less traffic.
Security, always an issue at the HK shows, was beefed with many armed guards walking around the halls and at key points around the center and, according to reports, a large number of plain clothed officers were walking around too.
