Two Pose as FedEx Men to Rob 5th Ave Diamond Firm
November 29, 05 by Edahn Golan
Two armed men, dressed as FedEx delivery people, entered the Fifth Avenue offices of Doppelt & Greenwald Diamonds and robbed it at gunpoint. The two got away as police sealed off the area.
The daring noon hour robbery, which took place in the heart of New York's diamond district, surprised local traders. The area is considered to be well guarded, with the offices of the Diamond Dealers Club, the local diamond exchange, located in the same building.
The New York Police Department sealed off the surrounding area in an attempt to catch the thieves. No one was injured during the robbery, and no estimate was given for the value of the stolen diamonds.
