Despite Soaring Gold Prices, Retailers Upbeat Ahead of Akshaya Tritiya

April 27, 06 by Himja Parekh, Mumbai

Akshaya Tritiya, a Hindu holiday, is considered the most auspicious day of the year for making economic transactions. During the holiday, people buy new clothes, diamond, gold, and silver, making it one of the strongest gold sales day of the year.

Despite soaring gold prices, which have seen an increase of over 30 percent since last year, this year is no different, and the mood in the market seems upbeat

Gold and jewelry showrooms are expected to open across the country on April 30, despite it being a Sunday. Banks are also going out of their way to woo customers, with the introduction of five and 10 gram gold coins.
