Elizabeth Taylor's Jewels to be Displayed at Couture Convention

Two of the most renowned pieces from the world’s leading private jewelry collection, from Dame Elizabeth Taylor, will be displayed at the upcoming Couture Convention in Las Vegas. The two designs, gifts from her husband, producer Mike Todd, will be presented at the convention booth of House of Taylor Jewelry.      

A diamond tiara created circa 1880 was worn by Dame Elizabeth to the Academy Awards at which Mike Todd’s “Around the World in 80 Days” won for Best Picture. “It wasn’t fashionable to wear tiaras then,” she recalls, “but I wore it anyway because Mike was my king.” The tiara was designed as nine old-mine cut diamond scrolls with larger old mine-cut diamond terminals, spaced by old mine-cut latticework motifs mounted in platinum and gold.

Also on display will be a Belle ?poque necklace circa 1900, the front designed as a series of old mine-cut diamond foliate scrolls with articulated drops, joined to a line of old mine-cut diamonds mounted in platinum and gold. “This was another surprise present from Mike,” Dame Elizabeth notes. “I still wear it when the occasion calls for it.”

The jewels will be on display at the Wynn hotel, on May 31 - June 2 in Salon 413, at the Mouton Ball room from 10:00am-6:00pm.
