GemEx Introduces New IdentiView System

May 25, 06 by IDEX Online Staff Reporter

GemEx Systems, based in Mequon, WI, has introduced the GemEx IdentiView System, the first instant diamond identification tool that positively identifies a diamond based on its unique cut faceting.

According to GemEx President Randall Wagner, the new system makes it easy for diamond professionals and consumers to quickly verify that the diamond in hand is the same one certified by GemEx. The IdentiView Certificate is now included in every GemEx report at no additional charge, says Wagner.

“Our system is easy to use. Simply look through the system’s viewer to see a diamond’s IdentiView ID image and compare the image to the printed or online IdentiView image. If the diamond doesn’t look the same, beware,” he cautions.

There is no danger in losing the IdentiView Certificate, says Wagner. “But be sure you register your diamond at gemex.com. Once your diamond is registered, it is archived. And when your diamond is registered with GemEx, you receive a discount on your insurance premiums.”

The new system consists of several components:

1. BrillianceScope Analyzer – a patented imaging spectrophotometer designed to measure the light performance of a diamond in the light performance categories of brilliance, fire and sparkle. The play of light in a diamond makes it beautiful. The beauty in real world conditions is determined by its light performance. The BrillianceScope measures each diamond at five different light views for the percentage of the diamond returning bright white light, the percentage returning bright color light, and the number of light points and how they change from light view to light view. GemEx also measure the IdentiView image that identifies a diamond the same way that a picture identifies a person.

2. GemEx IdentiView Certificate – included on every GemEx report for easy identification by the jeweler or consumer. This report has become known worldwide for its accuracy and repeatability. Each report shows the diamond’s light performance images, bar graph ratings and the IdentiView ID Image.

3. GemEx IdentiViewer – allows customers to match the IdentiView ID Image, showing the architecture of the diamond, with the same view of the diamond on the GemEx report. This provides them assurance that the diamond they are buying is the same one that has been analyzed by GemEx. With this device, the user can examine the diamond, mounted or loose, and compare what they see to the image stored on the GemEx IdentiView. The device makes it simple for both diamond professionals as well as the owner to identify their diamond.
