DTC Releases Trend Forecast for Diamond Jewelry in India

August 21, 06 by A Jewelbiz India Report

The Diamond Trading Company (DTC), the sales and marketing arm of De Beers, recently unveiled four major design themes that it expects to dominate the jewelry trend scene in the Indian market during the coming holiday period. The themes are Timeless Nature; Circle of Hope; Culture Criss-cross and Pure Passion.

The forecast is part of Diamond Next, a research and expertise based program from the DTC in India, which is aimed at “forecasting the future and preparing the diamond world for it.”

Under Diamond Next, the DTC brought together four leading Indian designers, Queenie Dhody, Farha Khan Ali, Saba Ali Khan, and Maheep Kapoor to work with international trend forecasting expert Paola de Luca, TJF co-founder and creative director. With input from de Luca, the designers fine-tuned international trends to conceptualize and create the latest trends in diamond jewelry design for the Indian market.

Three national award-winning designers, Shruti Agarwal, Gunjan Suri, and Pallavi Dudeja Folley translated the four themes that emerged from the design collaboration into the finished product.

The pieces have been manufactured by several diamond jewelry firms, including A’Star Jewellery, Dimexon Diamonds, Fine Jewellery, Ganjam, Goldstar, Imagem, Ishna, Jewel Goldi, MAIA, Notandas & Sons, Rose International, and Shrenuj. The designs were showcased in a fashion show during the program’s launch.
