With a record number of buyer pre-registrations for the third annual JANY Special Delivery Show, the opening day of this 'just-in-time' jewelry retailer re-stocking event got off to an excellent start. Buyer traffic, from opening and throughout the day, was consistent.
Those walking the floor appeared eager and determined to secure the goods that will woo and wow their customers this holiday season. Steady and consistent foot traffic in the aisles was the order of the day. And, as might have been expected, given the sharp spike in gold prices earlier this year, many buyers were eagerly queuing up at the gold dealers' booths ready to replenish their dwindling gold jewelry stocks at slightly more advantageous prices in advance of the anticipated holiday push.
While day one of a show such as this is not always a perfect indicator of buying trends, it appeared that buyers were looking for bargains. Close-outs were big with exhibitors and visitors alike. Discount goods, along with gold, seemed to be receiving the most attention on the show floor.
As the last opportunity for independent jewelry retailers to strategically manage their buying for the upcoming holiday season, this show is well positioned to fully accomplish its primary purpose – to put buyers and sellers together at the cusp of the biggest and most important selling season of the year.
