GIA LabDirect Consolidator Opens in Tokyo
April 01, 07
AGT Gem Laboratory Tokyo will, as of Monday April 2, operate as a GIA (Gemological Institute of America) LabDirect consolidator, the GIA announced Friday. LabDirect, a GIA effort to boost access to its labs through an international network of take-in windows and consolidators, was announced in August.
“GIA is expanding its presence internationally and we want to make our services accessible to more people,” says Tom Moses, senior VP, GIA Laboratory and Research.
Consolidators will collect and forward diamonds to the GIA laboratory, as well as communicate grading results back to clients. They also collect payment.
