India Imports 3.902 million cts of Rough Diamonds in May

The global diamond polishing center in India has imported 3.902 million carats of rough diamonds in May, a sharp 71.47 percent decline. The declared value of the goods rose 6.17 percent to $744.62 million.

 

According to provisional data released by the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), exports of rough were sliced in half (49.95%) to 1.559 million carats worth $34.56 million.

 

This brings the average value of imports to $190.83 p/c (per carat) and exports to $22.17 p/c.
