July 19, 07
The Dow Jones Industrial Average passed the 14,000 threshold for the first time on Tuesday, a result of solid earnings reports from blue-chip companies.
At mid-morning, the Dow was up 0.2 percent at 13,918.22 after setting on Tuesday a new intra-day record high of 14,002.60. After reaching the mark, the Dow fell when companies that reported better-than-expected earnings ran into profit taking.
Year-to-date, the Dow is up 12.2 percent, and the NASDAQ, 12.1 percent.
