DDC Discusses Overseas Business with Dept. of Commerce

August 09, 07 by Natalie J. Raps

Top figures of the Diamond Dealers Club (DDC) met yesterday (Wednesday) with a U.S. Department of Commerce delegation to brainstorm ways in which the government could help diamond companies identify new areas of business overseas.

Leading the delegation was Israel Hernandez, assistant secretary and director general, trade promotion and commercial service for the Department of Commerce, who said that his department does everything in its power to encourage growth in the industry, especially into international markets.

These efforts include providing research on foreign markets. “Our purpose really is to help any business enterprise in the United States find opportunity in markets overseas,” Hernandez said.
