An 84.37 carat D / Flawless brilliant-cut diamond fetched a hammer price of CH18.193 million ($16.196 million) at Sotheby’s Magnificent Jewels auction that ended yesterday in
The auction concluded with a total of CH64 million ($57 million) in sales.
Also a highlight of the auction was a rare fancy, vivid blue pear-shaped VS1 diamond weighing 4.16 carats, framed by brilliant-cut pink-tinted diamonds and a hoop pave-set with similar brilliant-cut stones, mounted in platinum and yellow gold. It sold for a total of CH5.313 million ($4.72 million), a price that exceeded the top estimate of CHF5 million.
Also auctioned, for CH1.449 million ($1.29 million), was a platinum-mounted, cushion-shaped I / VS1 diamond weighing 35.25 carats.
A 16.18-carat marquise-shaped diamond, set between pear-shaped diamond shoulders and mounted in yellow gold was also sold, for CH1.113 million ($991,000).
