HRD to Auction Certified Diamonds in Shanghai

HRD Antwerp NV, the commercial subsidiary of the Antwerp World Diamond Centre (AWDC), will hold a certified diamond auction in Shanghai on December 2, on the heels of the Shanghai Diamond Conference.

The diamonds to be offered in the “HRD Antwerp Certified Diamond Auction,” will be exhibited at the Shanghai International Jewellery Show from November 29 to the day of the auction.

HRD will team up with a Chinese partner, Shanghai Gem King Technology, operators of 21GEM.com. According to HRD general manager Georges Brys, the cooperation with one of China's most popular diamond jewelry website operators was motivated by the HRD’s desire to increase exposure to its diamond certificate among Chinese consumers.

“In Antwerp, we look upon the Chinese consumer market as the principal growth market of this century," Brys said. To that end, 21gem has agreed that only HRD Antwerp certified diamonds will be on sale on the day of the auction.

“We believe that through this promotion and sales vehicle, the reputation and credibility of HRD Antwerp certification will receive a significant boost,” he added.
