The Catoca Mining Society has paid $100 million to the state of Angola over the past year, saying it is its contribution to the country. Catoca mines 71 percent of Angola’s diamonds, officially at eight million carats a year. According to Catoca’s director-general, Nganga Júnior, the company’s main goal is to improve production, while focusing on staff training. “In Catoca we hold regular training programs, so as to instill the culture of responsibility at work, as well as professional improvement,” he said, as quoted by ANGOP.
