Cyber Monday Traffic Expected to Rise 17.5%

All eyes are online Monday, with hopes that decent weakened shopping traffic in the U.S. will rise on Cyber Monday, the unofficial start of the online holiday shopping season. Some 84.6 million U.S. consumers plan to shop online from home or at work, according to a Shop.org survey, conducted this weekend.

The survey also found that 37.2 percent of adults will shop on Cyber Monday, up 16.6 percent over last year.

“Online retailers have been planning their Cyber Monday promotions for months and are eagerly waiting to debut these deals to shoppers,” said Scott Silverman, executive director of Shop.org. “Many people who didn’t want to fight the crowds or get up early to stand in line over the weekend have been waiting until Cyber Monday to start their holiday shopping.”

Shoppers who are looking for a bargain will be able to find thousands of deals online during the day. According to the Shop.org eHoliday Survey, 83.7 percent of U.S. retailers will have a special promotion for Cyber Monday, up from 72.2 percent last year.
