The 2009 WFDB-Asia Summit Meeting scheduled to open on Wednesday in Hong Kong has been postponed, World Federation of Diamond Bourses President Avi Paz announced.
In a message to the leadership of all WFDB, affiliated bourses in Asia Paz cited this was “due to the security situation in our country [Israel] and ensuing developments.”
Paz added that he would try and reschedule the meeting as soon as possible.
The summit was planned to host the heads of the Bangkok, Hong Kong, Mumbai, Shanghai, Singapore and Tokyo diamond exchanges. Paz wanted to discuss how the organization can assist its members to raise their profiles and how the WFDB can serve its Asian members better and more effectively.
Following months of missile firing from Gaza into southern Israel, Israel launched a military operation on December 27.
