AGS Postpones 2009 Circle of Distinction Dinner
June 04, 09
The American Gem Society yesterday announced the suspension of its annual Circle of Distinction Dinner. The Las Vegas-based organization cited economic considerations as the reason for the deferral. The society said it would be holding the dinner, at which the American Gem Triple Zero, Lifetime Achievement, and Richard T. Liddicoat™ Journalism Awards are presented, in 2010.
Ruth Batson, executive director and CEO of the American Gem Society said, “The economic downturn has been difficult for many in our industry,” she said, “and we know the burdens associated with events of this nature are stressful for the jewelry industry right now. We want to give our loyal attendees a break, and hope everyone can join us again when we renew the awards and Circle of Distinction Dinner next year.”
More details regarding the 2010 awards and Circle of Distinction Dinner will be released in the coming months.
The American Gem Society, founded in 1934 by Robert M. Shipley, is a not-for-profit trade association dedicated to proven ethics, knowledge, and consumer protection within the jewelry industry.
